The halal food market in the United Kingdom is experiencing unprecedented growth, with major supermarkets expanding their halal ranges and entrepreneurs opening new restaurants catering specifically to Muslim consumers.
According to industry analysts, the UK halal food market is now worth over £5 billion annually, making it one of the fastest-growing sectors in the food industry.
Supermarkets Join the Trend
Tesco, Sainsbury’s, and Asda have all significantly expanded their halal offerings in recent months, with dedicated halal sections now appearing in stores across the country.
“We’ve seen a 40% increase in demand for halal products over the past two years,” said a Sainsbury’s spokesperson. “It’s clear that there’s significant consumer interest in quality halal options.”
Restaurant Innovation
Beyond supermarkets, a new wave of halal-only restaurants is transforming the dining scene. From upscale fine dining to casual street food concepts, entrepreneurs are tapping into underserved markets.
“The opportunity is enormous,” saidFatima Hussain, who recently opened her third halal restaurant in Manchester. “We’re not just serving Muslims—we’re introducing halal cuisine to a broader audience who appreciate quality, ethically-sourced food.”
Export Opportunities
UK halal producers are also increasingly looking to export their products, with interest from Gulf states and Southeast Asia growing steadily.
